The data controller is the operator of 4mapper; for any privacy-related enquiries contact info@4mapper.com.
2. Data collected and legal basis
When you create an account, the following personal data is collected:
- Email address – required to create and secure your account, and to send you service-related communications and platform updates.
- Username – chosen by you; used to identify your account within the Service.
- Approximate location – derived from your IP address or selected by you; used to personalise content and for analytics.
Additionally, the following data may be collected during normal use:

The legal bases under GDPR for the processing described above are:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) – account data and project data are processed to deliver the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) – usage analytics and platform communications (feature announcements, changelog updates, service notices) are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the Service and keeping registered users informed. You can opt out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to info@4mapper.com.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) – where required by applicable law.
3. Cookies and local storage
The Service uses cookies and browser local storage to remember your preferences, session state and project settings. These are strictly functional and are not used for behavioural advertising or cross-site tracking.
4. Data hosting and transfers
All personal data is stored and processed on servers located within the European Union. No personal data is transferred to countries outside the EEA unless an adequate level of protection is guaranteed (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).
5. Third-party services
4mapper may integrate third-party services such as hosting providers, analytics tools or external APIs for widgets (e.g. weather or financial data). These providers act as data processors under appropriate data processing agreements (DPA) and may collect limited technical data as part of their normal operation. They do not receive your personal data for their own marketing purposes.

- To provide and maintain the Service and its features.

7. Data sharing
Personal data is never sold or shared with third-party advertisers. Data may be processed by service providers strictly necessary to operate the Service (hosting, email delivery, analytics), under appropriate data processing agreements.
8. Retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, personal data is erased within 30 days unless retention is required by law. Usage analytics are retained in aggregated, anonymised form indefinitely.
